4 Great Geothermal Spas for an Iceland Road Trip

Mývatn Nature Baths

Geothermal baths are an important part of Iceland’s culture. Every town has its own public pool and it’s where Icelanders gather to relax and socialize. If you’re looking for ways to experience Iceland’s culture, a visit to one or more of Iceland’s geothermal pools or hot springs is a must. A relaxing soak in a hot pool, preferably accompanied by a beautiful Icelandic view, is also the perfect way to recover from jet lag or relax sore muscles after a long hike. I got my best nights of sleep on the days we visited a geothermal pool.

Amsterdam Vacation: Things to Do and Neighborhoods to Visit

Things to Do Amsterdam Vacation

Amsterdam is one of Europe’s most popular vacation spots.  Based on feedback from 100,000 millennials, Amsterdam came in number two for most popular travel destinations on earth.  That’s not a huge surprise considering Amsterdam is a picturesque city of canals, architecture, world-famous museums, and more bicycles than people.  It’s also very affordable.  All of this also means Amsterdam is quite crowded, especially in the city center.  Fortunately, the many things to do in Amsterdam include a number of places to visit in Amsterdam’s unique neighborhoods just outside of the city center.

What to Do With One Day in Zurich

Zurich at Night What to Do One Day in Zurich

With all of Switzerland’s nature, some guidebooks will suggest not even stopping in Zurich.  While we also were anxious to see Switzerland’s natural beauty, we did want to give Switzerland’s cities a chance, plus we were flying into Zurich, so we spent one entire day exploring Zurich.  While there are enough things to do in Zurich to keep one occupied for longer, we found that one day in Zurich gave us plenty of time to see the highlights.

A Fun-Filled Scottish Highlands Road Trip Itinerary

Cairngorms National Park Scottish Highlands Road Trip Itinerary

The main reason we went to Scotland was to take a barge cruise through the Scottish Highlands with Caledonian Discovery.  During that cruise, we would be hiking, biking, and boating slowly through the Highlands.  Therefore, we knew we would see plenty of Scottish Highlands’ nature during that time.  However, there are other things to see in the Scottish Highlands like castles, cathedrals, and distilleries that we wouldn’t see on our cruise, so we also decided to spend four days on a Scottish Highlands road trip.  Our Scotland road trip itinerary took us from Edinburgh to Inverness with overnights in Stirling, Braemar, and Urquhart.

Cruising the European Christmas Markets of the Danube River

Viennese Christmas Market European Christmas Markets Danube River

A dream we had for years was to visit some of the Christmas markets of Europe.  While cruising may not be everyone’s top travel choice, a European river cruise along the Danube River is the perfect way to see many of Europe’s Christmas markets without having to fly or drive long distances and stay at multiple hotels.  During our European Christmas market cruise with Viking River Cruises, we were able to visit the Christmas markets of Budapest (Hungary), Vienna (Austria), and Passau, Regensburg, and Nuremberg (Germany).
